Privacy Notice
Last updated: October 8, 2026 · Applies to FormsPal's online-divorce service
This Privacy Notice describes what personal data FormsPal's online-divorce service (the "Service") collects, how we store, process, and use it, and the choices you have. Preparing divorce documents necessarily involves sensitive personal information. This notice is written for that reality.
1. Who we are
| Controller | DigiDocuments, Inc. (registration number 3784405) |
|---|---|
| Address | 131 Continental Dr, Suite 305, Newark, DE 19713, New Castle, USA |
| privacy@formspal.com (privacy) · support@formspal.com (general) |
2. What we collect and why
Questionnaire and case information
To determine your document package and fill the official court forms, we collect the information the forms require. Depending on your case this can include:
- your and your spouse's names and contact details
- marriage, separation, and residency details. The county where you'll file
- information about your minor children (names, dates of birth, living arrangements) where the forms require it
- property, debt, income, and support information you choose to include
- Social Security and driver's license numbers are not part of our questionnaire, and we do not keep them in your profile or reuse them. Some official court and agency forms ask for them. If you type one into such a form, it is saved only inside that form so you can reopen and print it, it never fills in any other form, our staff see it masked, and it is deleted with your account.
Purpose: preparing your documents and operating your case dashboard (performance of our contract with you). Storage: for the life of your account. On account deletion it is erased immediately, except the order and payment records described under Deletion below.
One exception, so it is not a surprise: files you upload to us, such as notarized copies and screenshots you attach to a message, are deleted about six months after your divorce is finalised, even if your account stays open. Your answers and the documents we generate from them are not affected, and you can download anything you want to keep before then. We do this because scanned court paperwork is the most sensitive thing we hold and there is no good reason to keep it once your case is over.
Account data
Email address and password (stored only as a cryptographic hash, we cannot read your password), used to create and secure your account and communicate about your case.
Documents you upload
If you upload signed or notarized copies of your documents, we store them to assemble your filing packet. They are available in your account, and to our staff only as described in Who we share data with.
Payment data
Payments are handled by third-party payment processors. We receive confirmation details (masked card number, amount, date) but never your full card number. Payment records are retained as required by tax and accounting law.
Technical data, cookies, and advertising
We collect standard technical data (IP address, device and browser information, pages visited) to operate and secure the Service. If you arrive from an advertisement, we capture campaign parameters (UTM tags and ad-platform click IDs) to measure our advertising. We use Google Analytics, Google Ads conversion measurement and the Meta pixel for this. See the Cookie Notice for the specific cookies and how to opt out.
Usage analytics and session replay (Microsoft Clarity)
We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use the Service, on our public pages, the questionnaire and the signed-in case dashboard, through usage metrics, heatmaps and session replay. Clarity runs in its strictest masking mode: all text on the page and everything you type is hidden before anything is captured, so your answers, messages and documents never appear in a replay. Clarity records only how you move through pages (clicks, scrolling, mouse movement). It does not run on sign-in and password pages. Clarity uses first-party and third-party cookies and shares usage data with Microsoft. See the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
3. Who we share data with
| Recipient | Why |
|---|---|
| Stripe | To process your payments. We never see or store your full card number. |
| Google Cloud | Hosting the Service and storing your case data and files, in the United States. |
| Brevo | Delivering the emails we send you (account, case reminders, replies from support). |
| tawk.to | The live-chat window on your case dashboard. Your chat messages are stored with them as part of the transcript. |
| Google (Analytics, Ads), Meta, Microsoft Clarity | Usage measurement, session analytics and ad attribution, as described in the Cookie Notice. They never receive your questionnaire answers or documents. |
| Our case managers and support staff | To help with your case when your plan includes a case manager or you contact us. They work under confidentiality obligations. Social Security numbers are masked on every staff screen, and files you upload are shown to staff as images with those numbers covered. |
| Courts and authorities | Only where the law compels disclosure. You file your documents with the court yourself. |
We do not sell your personal information, and we never sell or share the contents of your divorce documents for advertising.
4. How we protect it
Encryption in transit, hashed passwords, access controls limiting case data to your account and the staff who help you, staff confidentiality obligations, and vendor agreements. No internet service can guarantee absolute security. We notify affected users of breaches as the law requires.
5. Your rights
Depending on your state (including Texas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and others with consumer-privacy laws), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, and port your personal data, and to opt out of targeted advertising. To exercise any right, email privacy@formspal.com with the subject "Privacy Request" from your account email, we respond within the timeframe your state's law requires (typically 30–60 days). You can also correct most case information directly from your profile.
Deletion
You can delete your account yourself at any time: My profile → Delete my account. It takes effect immediately. It cancels any active membership, then erases your answers, documents, uploaded files, messages and reminders, and anonymizes your account. We keep your order and payment records (amounts, dates, payment-processor references) because tax and accounting law requires it. You can also email support@formspal.com with the subject "Data Deletion Request" from your account email.
6. Children's information
The Service is for adults (18+). We do not knowingly collect data from children. Information about your minor children is collected only because the court forms require it, is provided by you as their parent, and is used solely to prepare your documents.
7. Updates
We will post any updated version here and, for material changes affecting your rights, notify you on the Service. This notice is drafted with reference to applicable U.S. state privacy laws.
