Registering a Motor Vehicle in Delaware

If you purchase a vehicle from a private seller, you will have 30 days to register your vehicle. If you purchase a vehicle from a dealer, the registration process is automatic, but you should confirm it with the dealership. If you are a new resident and are relocating to the state, you will have 60 days to register your vehicle. In any of the above cases, registration is necessary and valid for one or two years, the renewal of which can be done online at Delaware’s DMV online portal.
