CG 20 10 Form PDF Details

The main purpose of this endorsement is to add someone other than the named insured (typically an owner, lessee, or contractor) as an insured under the policy, but only to a certain extent. This is a common practice when one party (like a contractor) is performing work for another party and the latter wants protection under the contractor’s policy. Here's a summary of its key elements and what you should be aware of:

Coverage Scope: The additional insured is covered for bodily injury, property damage, or personal and advertising injury caused wholly or partly by the acts or omissions of the policyholder or those acting on the policyholder's behalf. Coverage is provided only for ongoing operations for the additional insured at the specified location.

Limitations: The coverage is only extended to the extent permitted by law. If the coverage for the additional insured is dictated by a contract or agreement, the policy won't provide broader coverage than what's required by that contract or agreement.

Exclusions: No coverage for bodily injury or property damage occurring after all work on the project at the covered location is completed, except for service, maintenance, or repairs. No coverage if the portion of the insured's work out of which the injury/damage arises has been put to its intended use by someone other than another contractor or subcontractor working on the same project.

Limits of Insurance: If a contract or agreement mandates coverage for the additional insured, the most the insurer will pay is the amount required by that contract or the limit shown in the policy declarations, whichever is less. This endorsement doesn't increase the policy's stated insurance limits.
