Dl 92 Form PDF Details

In the state of Texas, empowering parents and guardians to take an active role in their teenager's driver education has been institutionalized through the Parent Taught Driver Education (PTDE) program. At the heart of initiating this personalized and family-centered approach to driver's education is the DL-92 form. The comprehensive form serves as a request for the PTDE packet, necessary for the instruction to commence legally. This multifaceted document outlines essential program eligibility requirements, emphasizing the importance of the instructor's role—which can be a parent, step-parent, grandparent, foster parent, or legal guardian—in the student driver's journey. Eligibility pivots on several criteria including the age of the student, the instructional prerequisites, the obligatory hours of education divided between classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel training, and stringent guidelines regarding the instructor's legal driving and criminal history. Furthermore, the DL-92 form stipulates the financial aspects of applying for the program, underscoring the need for a non-refundable fee upon submission. It ensures a structured pathway for adolescents to receive not only the foundational knowledge and practical skills of driving but also instills values and responsibilities as future motorists. Through this form, the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) fosters a collaborative framework between the state and families, aiming to cultivate a generation of safe and responsible drivers.
