The Passport British C2 form is an essential document for anyone applying for a United Kingdom passport for a child under 16 from abroad. Functioning as the primary application for British Citizenship, British Overseas Territories Citizenship, British Overseas Citizen, British subject, or British protected person, this form is available free of charge and accessible for download from official websites such as www.fco.gov.uk. Filled out in black ink and capital letters, the form requires detailed information about the child including their name, age, sex, address, and parental details, ensuring a thorough vetting process. It highlights important variables such as the child's previous passport status, potential dual nationality implications, and the need to adhere to specified photograph requirements. Special notes guide the applicant through the process, offering instructions on filling out sections related to the child's and parents' citizenship status, previous marriages, and details on lost passports. The form also contains sections for emergency contacts, underscoring the importance of providing a safety net in case of unforeseen events. Additionally, the submission includes a declaration section signed by the parent or guardian, affirming the accuracy of the provided information, alongside a caution against making false statements. It is crucial to submit this application well in advance of any planned travels and include the necessary documents and fees to avoid delays. The Passport British C2 form serves not only as an application but also as a key tool for maintaining the integrity and security of the passport issuance process, making it a vital piece of documentation for those seeking to secure a UK passport for their children from overseas.

Dual nationality: if the child possesses the nationality or citizenship of another country, he/she may lose this when he/she acquires a British passport. Please check with the authorities of the other country before making this application.
Wherever possible, please submit this application at least 4 weeks before you need the passport, and at least 6 weeks if you have not previously held a British passport. Do not make arrangements for travel before you have your new passport. If your passport is due to expire, we strongly advise that you apply for a replacement passport. Those details may be used by the Identity and Passport Service to test our systems and to ensure the effective operation of passport services. We may also contact you to ask if you are satisfied with such services. We may pass information held on your passport and on related passport records to public and private sector organisations in the UK and abroad when you use your passport, obtain a service or when it is in the public interest to do so.
There is a separate sheet of Notes (Notes for Form C2) to help you complete this application form. Please refer to these whenever this application form tells you to, and follow symbols, e.g. # to INTERPRETATION for definitions.
