Navigating the legal framework, especially when it involves appearing before a court, can be a daunting experience for both individuals and representatives of entities. The Subpoena to Appear and Testify at a Deposition (Subp-015) serves as a crucial tool within the California legal system to compel the presence of a witness at a deposition. The form distinctly outlines the obligations placed upon the person or entity summoned, including the specific date, time, and venue where their testimony is required. It uniquely addresses scenarios involving non-natural persons, such as businesses or organizations, necessitating the designation of individuals to testify on matters pertinent to the case. Furthermore, the form highlights the procedural aspects of depositions, such as the stenographic recording of testimony and the subsequent rights of the deponent to review and amend their statements. It also elucidates the entitlement to witness fees and the stipulations regarding the deposition location relative to the witness's residence. Non-compliance with this subpoena carries significant legal repercussions, stressing the importance of adherence to its terms. To ensure proper service, the form concludes with a section dedicated to documenting the process of delivering the subpoena to the intended recipient, underscoring the meticulous nature with which legal notices are handled. This safeguard ensures all parties are duly informed, maintaining the integrity of the legal process.
