Actions that can be conducted with firearms in the State of Nevada are regulated by Nevada Revised Statutes (NRS) and federal gun laws. You can purchase a gun only if you are eligible for that.
No registration of a firearm is required in the state. You can possess a firearm without any permit. However, you must obtain a valid concealed carry permit in case you wish to carry a gun in such a manner. Such permits are issued by County Sheriffs. A possessor of a firearm is not allowed to carry it in prohibited places even with a valid permit.
It is possible to purchase a firearm from a licensed gun dealer. In this case, the purchaser is required to complete the ATF Form 4473, which is needed for a NICS background check. In case the application is approved, the deal can be completed. No permit is required to buy a gun. No bill of sale template is needed in this case.
You can also purchase a firearm from a person residing in Nevada as well. Unlike in many other states, it is required in Nevada to run a background check even for private transactions. To do that, both the seller and the buyer need to meet at a licensed dealer’s shop. The dealer will run the check. This procedure may be charged by the dealer. It is recommended to use a bill of sale form to prove the ownership transfer. Find a free template of this document on our site. It is convenient to get it in PDF printable format.

Step 6: Now, the filled out bill of sale has to be signed.
For most states, the signature of the buyer is not necessary. Yet, it’s recommended to have the form signed by each party. Just to be on the safe side, the parties can find a person who will witness the transaction and sign the document too.
Step 7: Use the help of a notary public
Notarization is normally not necessary, but it is a solid option to add one more level of legal protection to the deal. Both parties should also get a duplicate or a copy of a bill of sale to keep it in their records in order to avoid possible legal issues.
