FOOD RECALL PLAN AND EMERGENCY CONTACT DETAILS

As part of our work plan to enhance collaboration with the food industry for operational readiness for food recalls, AVA is requesting all food importers to provide us with a copy of your company’s food recall plan. Please also provide us with your company’s emergency contact details (format as in appendix A). We strongly encourage email addresses and handphone numbers of the contact person(s) to be provided as we need to be able to reach out to all involved parties as soon as possible in a food recall event. Please rest assure that all contact details will be kept confidential.

2For companies that do not have a food recall plan ready, we have attached

the standard recall procedure (Appendix B) to assist you to draw up your food recall plan. We would appreciate your returns by 31st May 2012 either by fax to 62215091 or through email to AVA_Import&Export_Foodstuff@ava.gov.sg.

vegetables and processed food

Importers receive complaints, feedback or notification from customers, suppliers, competent authority of the exporting country, or AVA that a product imported is identified as having a reasonable possibility that use or consumption of the food could cause adverse health consequences

Voluntary recall by importer

Inform AVA of the problem

Mandatory recall instructed by AVA

Obtain and consolidate all necessary information about the food product

Stop the distribution and sale of the affected

product as soon as possible

Notify other relevant parties, include:

1.the distribution network/chain, trade customers, retailers

2.the public (consumer level recall)

3.food industry organisations

Effectively and efficiently remove from the market place any product which is potentially unsafe

1.retrieve the food product from the market place

2.dispose of the food product accordingly

Report on the recall, including the action taken

to prevent a recurrence of the problem
