The CANPASS program is operated by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and enables pre-approved, low-risk travelers to enter Canada with expedited processing at designated ports of entry. Three program types are available: CANPASS Air for private aircraft operators, CANPASS Private Boats for recreational boaters, and CANPASS Corporate Aircraft for business aviation. Each type requires a separate canpass application and a non-refundable processing fee.
To be eligible, applicants must be 18 years of age or older and be citizens or permanent residents of Canada or the United States. You must provide proof of citizenship or permanent residency and written authorization to operate your aircraft or vessel. Applicants who have completed a background check and interview may qualify for CANPASS approval, which is valid for two years from the approval date.
The canpass application form E672 collects your full name, birth date, place of birth, nationality, mailing address, email, and details about your aircraft or vessel. A non-refundable fee is payable when you submit the completed application. The CBSA will contact you with the processing decision. Once approved, you can use designated CANPASS entry ports within the terms of your program.
