This book has tons of great information and graphs and covers just about anything you can think of in the vet tech field, the only down side is that its huge/heavy. Its terrible to have to bring to class. It would be handy if it came with a digital copy you could pop that on your computer/ipad and take that to class. But other than that, its awesome!
I am more than pleased with this eighth edition. It is better organized and has a better flow. I did not need to buy this one. I will be graduating in just a few months but once I have a book of this caliber I like to keep current. I would recommend this new version to any vet tech in training, or to anyone already working in the field.
I am currently preparing for the VTNE for the second time, with only on the job experience,and this book. It has really helped me learn large animal and improve on my weak points. I feel very confident in taking this next test with the help of co workers and this AMAZING Book!! I will recommend it to anyone looking to take the Exam or just learn, there is amazing information in this book and well worth the money spent!
I bought this textbook and workbook to study independently for the VTNE. They arrived quickly and in perfect condition. The textbook is comprehensive and full of great information. However, the workbook does not come with answers to the questions and puzzles. You must register on the Evolve website, and you must be a student or instructor to gain access to the workbook answers and extra website materials. Students are only given access to answers for the odd numbered
workbook questions, and I have found several mistakes in the answers.
I liked the book set as far as being a good review. However, you CAN NOT access the workbook answers on their site unless your a teacher. So, this makes the set rather useless because you can do the workbook but there is no way to check your answers. They should have included them with the workbook or at the very least made them available to the student if we want to use it as a review for the VTNE.
I had the 3rd edition in college in 98...this one is about five times better and encompasses things the others did not. Impressive to say the least. Should be very helpful. Loved the fact that this book comes with MANY links to many organizations and such. There is much to love about this book. I also like the fact that this book is helping to bridge the gap between lab animal people associated with AALAS with the small animal technician communities.
This book contains a LOT of information. No joke - it's a lot of reading but it is extremely helpful. Purchased this book for one of my vet tech classes and I think i was one of the few people that did the actual readings assigned. You can only learn so much 'on the job' but this book helps to support why things are done the way they are and it gives excellent references and examples to help explain things. Without this book, I would not have become the veterinary technician I am today. I took the course over 2 years ago and I still reference the book for pertinent information.

I am a pre-veterinary major and taking some registered vet tech classes as well so I can get certified, this book was required for one of my RVT classes. Wonderful book to teach you about general procedures, safety protocol, and everything under the sun to keep a vet clinic running smoothly! Definitely would recommend to anyone interested in joining the veterinary field.
This clinical textbook has very graphic photos and detailed text. It does seem to go into every nook and cranny of many animals. I do have some complaints though. It does not provide the anatomy of the animals. Plus, the author seems sort of like an arrogant and condescending jerk when he provides advice for new veterinary technicians. One example, "Don't wear anything that makes you look helpless like high heels or short skirts to the interview." Duh.
This book is amazing!!! has everything that you wonder.I bought this book because, I am getting ready for my board and has all the questions that I made in my mind. The book is the most complete book I ever read, goes from simple things like receptionist task , management, tech, assistant and veterinarian duties even laws and regulations. The quality is great , pictures are very explicit and tha subjects are well deep developed and includes different task and how to perform the most often veterinary technician jobs from small animals to farm animals.
This was a required bok for my course. Last semester i was anoyed because i never used it this semester it has been excellent for a reference book. The online resounces have been a great help with quizzes flashcards and pictures to label. Definatly worth it's weight in gold this Semester especially in regards to clinic!
