Colorado Form Dr 2222 PDF Details

In the realm of vehicle transportation and dealership operations within Colorado, the Colorado Department of Revenue has instituted a crucial document, the DR 2222 form, as a foundational part of its regulation. This form, also known as the Transporter Plate Application, serves a diverse array of entities ranging from car dealerships with a valid Colorado license to chartered financial institutions, repair facilities, and even government agencies dealing with vehicle disposal or movement. Its primary purpose is to authorize the issuance of transporter license plates, thereby enabling the legal transportation of motor vehicles that are not registered or are in the process of repossession, repair, or transfer. Not only does it lay down the requirements for acquiring these plates, such as providing proof of a dealership license or a repossessor bond letter, but it also underscores the conditions for their use – like ensuring the vehicles are roadworthy and that the plates are visible and legible during transit. Moreover, the DR 2222 form outlines the application process, the fees involved, and the penalties for misuse or provision of false information, emphasizing a structured approach to compliance and accountability in the movement of motor vehicles. Crucially, it balances the operational needs of businesses with regulatory obligations, reflecting the state's commitment to road safety and legal adherence.
