I understand that my request to participate in the ride-along program is contingent upon the suitability of my background which will be |
|
|
investigated by agency personnel to include a check of local records and any records available by way of the National Crime Information |
|
|
Center (NCIC). I further acknowledge and agree: |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
1. That I am aware that the work of the Police Department is inherently dangerous, and that I may be subjected to the threat of death |
|
|
|
or personal injury, or damage to my property, by accompanying a member (or members) of the Police Department during the |
|
|
|
performance of their official duties, and that I freely, voluntarily, and with such knowledge assume the risk or death, personal injury, |
|
|
|
or property damage arising from, or in any way connected with the use of weapons, unlawful acts, or forcible resistance by law |
|
|
|
violators, assault, riot, breach of peace, vehicle accidents, fire, explosion, gas, electrocution, or the escape of radioactive substance |
|
|
|
while accompanying a member (or members) of the Police Department during the performance of their official duties. |

Liability |
2. That the City of Goose Creek, Chief of Police, his sureties, all members of the Goose Creek Police Department, their sureties, and |
|
|
department during the performance of their official duties resulting from any negligent act or omission on the part of any member of |
|
|
|
each of them shall not be responsible or liable for any injury, damage, loss, or expense, either to me or my property, incurred while |
|
|
|
riding in any vehicle assigned to the Goose Creek Police Department, or while accompanying any member (or members) of said |
|
of |
|
the Goose Creek Police Department. |
And that during any and all time I am riding in any vehicle assigned to the Goose Creek |

and Waiver |
|
Police Department, I am in the status of a guest, and that my right, if any, for civil damages against the driver of the vehicle or any |
|
|
other person legally liable for the conduct of the driver for death, personal injury, or property damage occurring during such time is |
|
|
that provided in Section 56-9-10, et seq, of the South Carolina Code of Laws of 1976, as amended. |

For myself, my heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns to defend and indemnify the Goose Creek Police Department, their |

sureties and each of them, against any and all manner of actions, suits, debts, claims, demands, or damages, or liability or expense |

of every kind and nature incurred or arising by reason of any actual or claimed negligent or wrongful act or omission of mine while |

riding in any vehicle assigned to the Goose Creek Police Department while accompanying any member (or members) of said Goose |
|
|
|
Creek Police Department during the performance of their official duties. |

|
4. That my attire must be professional, provide proper coverage so as not to bring about undue attention, and free of detracting |
|
|
|
imagery or verbiage and my behavior will remain dignified and professional (no conversing with parties to law enforcement action to |
|
|
|
include victims, witnesses, prisoners, etc. unless authorized by the officer). |

|
|
5. |
That I am under the absolute authority of the officer to which I am assigned and will not exit the police vehicle for any reason without |
|
|
|
the officer’s consent unless an emergency exists or is imminent. I will refrain from handling equipment inside the police vehicle |
|
|
|
unless specifically invited to do so. |

That I may not utilize tape recorders, video recorders, cameras, or any other electronic devices during my tour. |
