KENS-5 MI CASA MAKEOVER CONTEST

OFFICIAL RULES

1. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR TO WIN. A PURCHASE WILL NOT

INCREASE YOUR ODDS OF WINNING. SUBJECT TO FEDERAL, STATE, LOCAL AND MUNICIPAL LAWS AND REGULATIONS. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.

2. Eligibility. Subject to the additional restrictions below, The Mi Casa Makeover Contest (the “Contest”) is open to individuals who are legal U.S. residents of Texas. Employees or contractors of KENS-5 (“Sponsor”), TEGNA Inc., all Promotional Sponsors named at the end

of these rules and each of their respective affiliated companies, and advertising and promotional agencies, and the immediate family members of, and any persons domiciled with any such employees or contractors are not eligible to enter or win. Anyone who has won a KENS-TV contest or sweepstakes within the past 90 days prior to the start date of this contest is also not eligible to enter or win.

3.How to Enter. The Contest will begin at 9:00 am (CT) January, 19, 2016, and will end at 5:00 pm (CT) January 29, 2016. You can self-nominate your home or nominate that of a deserving family for a Mi Casa Makeover.

NOMINATOR AND NOMINEE. A Nominator must be a legal U.S. citizen residing in the State of

Texas who is 18 years of age or older. An eligible Nominator may nominate his or her own home or may nominate someone else’s home to receive the makeover. A Nominee must own and occupy the home being nominated for the makeover located within the KENS 5 viewing area (as defined by its Nielsen DMA) that includes the Texas counties of Atascosa, Bandera, Bexar, Comal, Guadalupe, Kendall, Medina and Wilson. The home must be his or her primary residence located within the city limits of San Antonio. A Nominator may nominate his or her own home, or that of another family.

During the Contest Entry Period the Entry Form is available on kens5.com at www.kens5.com/. Complete the required information and follow all instructions. Print out both pages of the form and send them along with the required photos to Mi Casa Makeover KENS-TV, P.O. Box TV 5, San Antonio, TX 78229. You will be asked to send photos of the nominated home including any areas of the home you believe need a makeover. Each photo must be an authentic, original and the Nominee must own the copyright in the photo submitted. Sponsor reserves the right to refuse any photograph it determines to be unacceptable or inappropriate. The Nominator will also be asked to write a brief description of the family that owns and occupies the nominated property and why he or she believes this family deserves to win a KENS 5 Mi Casa Makeover. All entries must be postmarked by January 29, 2016 and received no later than February 3, 2016.

Only one (1) entry per household. For an entry to be eligible it must include both pages of the entry form and photos. Sponsor will not be responsible for incomplete, lost, late, postage- due, misdirected or illegible entries, or poor quality photos. Nominees must agree to make their properties available for on-site inspections when called upon and scheduled on dates to be determined. All entries become the property of Sponsor and none will be returned.

4.Winner Selection. Judging of all eligible entries will begin on February 4, 2016. A panel of qualified judges made up of remodeling experts including, but not limited to construction

contractors, HVAC, siding and window installers, and utilities service providers will judge each eligible entry by the following criteria – Condition of the home (50%), Participating Contractors’ schedules (30%) and family story (20%). The ratings scale for each criterion will range from one (1) to ten (10), with 10 being the best score. In the event of a tie, the judges will visit the top two (2) tied home and families and re-judge each home using the same criteria. The ten

(10)nominated properties with the highest cumulative scores will become the 10 Semi- Finalists. During the week of February 8, 2016 the Judges will conduct site checks of the 10 Semi Finalists properties and will select five (5) Finalists. . During the Week of February 8,

2016 the Judges and a group of Promotional Sponsors will conduct follow-up site visits to the 5 Finalists’ properties. On or about February 15, 2016 the winning Nominee will be selected. The decisions of Judges will be final and binding in all respects.

5.Prizes and Odds. One (1) Grand Prize Winner will receive a home makeover that may include a variety of remodeling services such as HVAC, siding, windows, as requested in Winner’s entry and determined by Judges and participating Promotional Sponsors. The Grand Prize package will vary depending upon the needs of the winning home and will have an approximate retail value between $10,000.00 - $50.000.00. Makeover must take place between February 21 and June 1, 2016. KENS 5 will come with cameras to surprise the Winner which will be broadcast on Great Day San Antonio February 18, 2016. The Family Surprise Show revealing the home will be on March 4, 2016. When the makeover has been completed the home will be featured on Great Day San Antonio show June 3, 2016 and June 10, 2016 with before and after photos of the makeover.

Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received.

6.Winner Notification and Acceptance. The Grand Prize Winner will be notified on or about February 18, 2016 at the telephone number provided on winner’s entry form. Sponsor will call during regular business hours and will leave no messages. Failure to reach the Winner by phone after three (3) attempts may result in disqualification of winner, forfeiture or his or her interest in all prizes and the entry with the next highest number of points will be declared the Grand Prize Winner. . Winner may waive his or her right to receive prize. Prizes are nonassignable and nontransferable. No substitutions allowed by winner. Prize is not redeemable for cash. Prizes and individual components of prize packages are subject to availability and Sponsor reserves the right to substitute prizes of equal or greater value. Winner is solely responsible for reporting and payment of any taxes on prizes. To claim the prize Winner will be required to complete an affidavit of eligibility/liability and publicity release which

must be returned as directed by Sponsor. Failure to sign and return the affidavit or release, or to comply with any term or condition of these Official Rules, may result in a winner’s

disqualification, the forfeiture of his or her interest in the prize, and the award of the prize to a substitute winner. Delivery of the prize will be arranged following Sponsor’s receipt of the fully

executed affidavit of release. Except where prohibited, acceptance of any prize constitutes winner’s consent to the publication of his or her name, biographical information and likeness in any media for any commercial or promotional purpose, without limitation the Internet, or further compensation. Prizes not won and claimed by eligible winners in accordance with these Official Rules will not be awarded and will remain the property of Sponsor.

7.Participation. By participating, entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of Sponsor. Sponsor reserve the right to disqualify persons found tampering with or otherwise abusing any aspect of this Contest as solely determined by Sponsor. In the event the Contest is compromised by tampering or other causes beyond the reasonable control of Sponsor which corrupts or impairs the administration, security, fairness or proper operation of the Contest, Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to suspend, modify or terminate the Contest. Should the Contest be terminated prior to the stated expiration date, Sponsor reserve the right to award prizes based on the entries received before the termination date. KENS 5 shall have no liability to the Grand Prize Winner for the makeover services, materials,

or labor being provided or for any damage to persons or property in connection with the Grand Prize occurring on or about the Grand Prize Winner’s home.

8.Release. Promotional Sponsors and KENS 5 make no warranties, express or implied, relative to the use or enjoyment of any prize or portions thereof, including without limitations, its quality, merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. By entering the Contest, Winner agrees to

hold harmless and fully release Sponsor KENS 5, TEGNA Inc. and its parent companies, trustees, subsidiaries, franchisees, licensees, employees, agents, independent contractors and advertising and promotional agencies from any and all liability for any injuries, losses, death, or damages of any kind caused by any prize or resulting from the acceptance, possession, quality, use or misuse of any prize, or any portion of any prize or travel related to the receipt or use of any prize.

9.Construction. The invalidity or unenforceability of any provision of these rules shall not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision. In the event that any such provision is determined to be invalid or otherwise unenforceable, these rules shall be construed in accordance with their terms as if the invalid or unenforceable provision was not contained therein.

10.Sponsor. The Mi Casa Makeover Contest is sponsored by Kens-5. The decisions of Sponsors and judges regarding the selection of winners and all other aspects of the Contest shall be final and binding in all respects. Sponsor will not be responsible for typographical, printing or other inadvertent errors in these Official Rules or in other materials relating to the Contest. For the
