In order to maintain compliance with the Affordable Care Act, all employers with 50 or more full-time employees must offer their employees healthcare coverage. This requirement is known as the employer mandate. A recent study by the Kaiser Family Foundation has found that 3400 businesses will be subject to the employer mandate in 2016. These businesses employ over 176,000 people and will be required to offer their employees health insurance coverage that meets minimum ACA requirements. The Kaiser Family Foundation study also found that many of these businesses are not prepared for the mandate, and most likely will not be able to meet it without making significant changes to their operations. Employers who do not comply with the employer mandate may face penalties from the IRS. It is important for all businesses affected by this requirement
