Follow these steps to complete the A8A Cargo Control Document accurately before reaching the Canadian border:
- Enter the carrier name and address in the header fields at the top of the form.
- Write the cargo control number (CCN) assigned to the shipment. The CCN links all documents for a single shipment together.
- Fill in the shipper and consignee details, including full names and business addresses.
- Describe the goods by commodity type, quantity, and total weight in the cargo description section.
- Attach a PARS label if the shipment is enrolled in the Pre-Arrival Review System. This allows CBSA officers to process the cargo before the truck arrives at the border.
- Print five copies of the completed form. All five must be presented to CBSA at the point of entry.
When Is the A8A Form Required?
The A8A Manifest Form is required for commercial truck shipments crossing into Canada at land border crossings. You need this form when carrying commercial goods that require a Cargo Control Document for CBSA processing, or when your carrier participates in the PARS pre-clearance program for faster border crossings.
