Allstate Inventory PDF Details

The Allstate Inventory form is a 4-page worksheet that guides you through cataloging every item in your home, one room at a time. A completed household inventory is the most effective step you can take to protect your financial recovery after a fire, burglary, or natural disaster, because it gives your insurance adjuster a verified record of what you owned and what it was worth.

Rooms and Categories Covered

The form is divided into dedicated sections for your living room, family room or den, dining room, kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms, garage, basement, and attic. Each section includes line items for furnishings, appliances, electronics, and personal items typical to that space, so you work through your home systematically without skipping categories.

What to Record for Each Item

For every item, the form asks for four data points: a description, original purchase price, year of purchase, and serial number where applicable. Serial numbers are especially valuable for electronics and major appliances because they help insurers confirm ownership and replacement cost. For high-value items such as jewelry, artwork, or collectibles, attach photos or purchase receipts to your completed form for stronger documentation.

Tips for Completing the Form

Work one room at a time and finish each section before moving on. After completing the form, save a digital copy in cloud storage and keep a printed backup in a fireproof location. Review your inventory once a year or after any major purchase. To document personal effects separately from your home contents, the Inventory of Personal Effects form provides additional detail fields. For a legal property record to complement your insurance files, see the Personal Property Memorandum.

Filing a Claim Using Your Inventory

When you contact your insurer after a loss, having a completed inventory ready speeds up every stage of the claims process. The form reminds you to document damage before repairs start, note serial numbers on items needing replacement, and reach out to your agent immediately to prevent further loss. A well-maintained record can reduce settlement time significantly compared to filing from memory alone.

Common Questions

Do I need to list every item in my home? Focus on items with meaningful replacement value: furniture, electronics, appliances, clothing collections, jewelry, artwork, and sporting equipment. Small consumables do not need individual entries.

What if I do not know the original price? Estimate as accurately as possible, then check current retail prices for comparable items online. Credit card statements and receipts are the most accurate source for original purchase price.

Where should I store my completed form? Save the PDF to cloud storage such as Google Drive or Dropbox and email yourself a copy. Keep a printed version in a fireproof safe. Off-site storage ensures you can access the document even if your home is damaged.

Are there related forms I should complete? For Allstate-specific claims, the Allstate Appeal printable form handles disputed settlements. For general property condition documentation, the Property Condition Checklist is a useful companion document.
