I 821 Form PDF Details

In navigating the complex landscape of U.S. immigration policy, certain forms act as lifelines for individuals seeking refuge, safety, and opportunities within the country's borders. Among these pivotal documents is Form I-821, officially titled "Application for Temporary Protected Status" (TPS). Managed by the Department of Homeland Security's U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), this form offers a gateway for eligible individuals from designated countries undergoing conditions like ongoing armed conflict, environmental disaster, or other extraordinary and temporary conditions, allowing them to reside and work in the U.S. for a designated period. Significantly, for those individuals looking to not only secure their presence in the U.S. but also to sustain themselves through employment, the I-821 form provides an avenue to request an Employment Authorization Document (EAD) by concurrently filing Form I-765, "Application for Employment Authorization." The particulars of the I-821 form span a wide array of personal and immigration-specific information, including but not limited to, the applicant's full name, any aliases used, their current immigration status, detailed biographic information, and their history of residence and nationality. Additionally, it requires disclosure of any previous applications for TPS, details about the applicant's entry into the United States, and, when applicable, information regarding any past or ongoing immigration proceedings. This comprehensive form seeks to establish the eligibility of applicants for TPS and their authorization to work in the United States, reflecting the broader mechanisms within immigration policy aimed at offering protection and stability to individuals from countries facing dire situations.

See the Who Is Eligible for TPS section of the Instructions for additional information on admissibility and available waivers.

If any of the questions apply to you, please provide information about the events, including the places and dates of occurrence.
