The Federal Direct Parent (PLUS) Loan Request Form from Blue Ridge Community College (BRCC) sets out four steps for parents of dependent students. The student and parent complete the FAFSA for the applicable award year, including BRCC's school code (006819); the parent applies online at studentaid.gov for a credit decision; the parent completes a Master Promissory Note, a legally binding document agreeing to repay the loan; and the parent completes the BRCC Loan Request Form and submits it to the Financial Aid Office. The request form asks for the parent's and student's information, the term(s) and loan amount requested, a checklist and the borrower's signature. The instructions also explain options after a credit denial (additional unsubsidized funds for the student, or borrowing with an endorser), limits for parents borrowing for the first time after July 1, 2026, origination fees and the disbursement timeline.
