Without a completed Affidavit of Repossession, the Alaska DMV will not process a title change in the lienholder's name.

Who Must Complete This Form?

The Affidavit of Repossession must be completed by the lienholder or their designated authorized agent. This includes banks, credit unions, finance companies, and private lenders who hold a security interest in a vehicle titled in Alaska. What Happens After Repossession?

Once the Affidavit of Repossession is completed and submitted, the Alaska DMV processes the title transfer. The lienholder or new owner must then obtain a title in their name. This process applies only to vehicles originally titled in Alaska. If the vehicle was sold after repossession, a bill of sale must accompany the affidavit, and the buyer's printed name and signature are required in the BILL OF SALE section.
