A New Mexico durable, limited or general power of attorney must be signed by the principal, or by another individual who signs the principal's name at the principal's direction and in the principal's conscious presence.[1.2] On a durable, limited or general power of attorney, the principal's signature is presumed to be genuine if the principal acknowledges it before a notary public or another individual authorized by law to take acknowledgments.[1.1]
